Sunlight Group supports Greek schools by donating technological equipment

Xanthi, 26 October 2022

Sunlight Group supports local educational institutions in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Greece, for the fifth consecutive year, by donating advanced technological equipment. The company donated equipment to schools in Xanthi, Evros and Kavala, around the wider area it operates, aiming to support contemporary educational needs and the upgrade of their technological infrastructure.

A total of 700 students will benefit from this donation, which is announced on international Sustainability Day (the last Wednesday of October), highlighting Sunlight’s commitment to innovating and delivering sustainable energy solutions, while also contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as Quality Education.

As a world-leading technology company, and a business with long tradition in the area, Sunlight Group collaborated with local authorities and responded to relevant schools’ demands to meet their educational needs for technological equipment. Among others, the donation includes desktop computers and laptops, tablets, monitors, interactive whiteboards, and projectors. The equipment was delivered by Sunlight representatives to six educational facilities: kindergartens, special needs primary schools, High Schools, and Vocational High Schools. In addition, Sunlight is collaborating with local school authorities for the donation of office equipment.

Commenting on the donation, Kostas Paspalas, Sunlight Group Manufacturing Executive Director, stated: "Once again, we are supporting the educational needs of schools in the region where we have been operating for years. This initiative started in 2017 and has been implemented ever since by Sunlight. Educational needs are constantly changing, in the same way that our company transforms and changes to meet the needs of a modern and ever-growing market. Our ambition is to help local students, children of all ages living in remote areas, to get the most out of their studies. And in that context, we’ve supported thus far more than 20 schools of various educational levels – from kindergartens to the Democritus University of Thrace."

Spyros Nakos, the company’s Community Relations and Sustainability manager, added: "I would like to especially thank the local authorities for their excellent cooperation in the implementation of our donation. For all of us at Sunlight Group, the region of Xanthi and the wider region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, is always a priority. Through the operation of our two production units, in Xanthi and Komotini, a key concern for us is contributing to improving the quality of life for the people in the local community and the nearby regions. Guided by our motto that ‘knowledge is power’ we continue supporting significant educational initiatives."

Sunlight Group will continue contributing with meaningful support to the areas it operates, focusing on education and training initiatives –with a particular emphasis on technology and innovation– as well as activities that improve quality of life, and support local Health, Emergency and Rescue Services.
